About Mauma

Our meals are made to support you through your postpartum period whether it be right when baby arrives or for weeks and months following. We strive to offer a balanced and nutritious menu without the stress of doing it all yourself. We're here to lend a hand when you're adjusting to life with your newest addition. Because our meals are intentionally created with nourishment and flavor in mind, they can support your partner and other family members. We believe our meals offer a way to set up lasting health for you and your family.

Stemming from the old Korean word for body, maum means heart or mind. Maum often refers to the inner self where our intentions gather. We bring this sense of care to how we choose our ingredients, how we cook and how we impact our environment.

As cooks, we’ve always been dedicated to feeding those around us well. We also value the importance of quality ingredients to support good health. We started Mauma to share traditional healing wisdom through dishes we love to cook. We’re here to cook the dishes our families have passed down to us while highlighting the best California has to offer.

Ingredients & Nutrition

We take great care in providing the best for you. We source all of our fresh ingredients from local and organic farms in the Bay Area and surrounding foothills. We only partner with California ranchers and seafood purveyors. You can often find us doing our favorite thing, hand-picking our ingredients at the San Rafael farmers' markets. --- Our more traditional ingredients can sometimes be hard to find so we do work with small farmers and makers in Korea. All of our imported ingredients are directly sourced and single origin. Everything we serve is brought to you with quality in mind.

We value honesty and transparency. While all of our ingredients might not be certified organic, we do our very best to purchase from certified organic sources. We support farmers and ranchers that invest in sustainable and regenerative agriculture.

We stick to traditional ways of cooking using natural sources of fat versus modern applications of cooking with processed oils. Our dishes are cooked with olive oil, sesame oil, perilla oil, coconut oil, avocado oil, tallow, cultured butter and ghee. We never use canola oil, soy oil, peanut oil or any other man-made oils.

All of our meals can stay fresh for up to five days in the fridge. Our kimchis and fermented products last up to six months when properly sealed.
